As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services.
Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient/donor care whilst remaining internationally competitive. The Donor Services Department is responsible for the planning and provision of adequate supplies of safe, high quality blood components for NHS Scotland in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Post:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multidisciplinary donor operations team within Donor & Transport Services (D&TS). The principal functions of the Donor Services Operations team is to provide administration support in all areas of donor services and to ensure patient and donor safety by working within agreed clinical and quality standards and procedures and ensuring accurate data input.
The Donor Services Collection Support Officer (DSSO) is responsible for providing clerical, administration and operational support to all areas of the Donor Services Collection programme in the South East of Scotland. Covering a cross section of operational support duties including document control, database and equipment maintenance, facility issues and collection resource support to ensure legislative and MHRA compliance plus delivery of excellent service to donors, public and blood collection teams.
The Candidate:
Post-holder will work as part of a team to ensure patient and donor safety by working within agreed clinical and quality standards and procedures, ensuring accurate data input, equipment management and documentation standards are maintained.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, motivated, flexible individuals keen to undertake this challenging and interesting post. Candidates must be educated to higher grade level or demonstrate equivalent experience. We are seeking an individual with a customer focused approach and who is organised and adaptable. You must also possess excellent communication skills, have the ability to multi task and be able to work under pressure. An in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office, other software packages and excellent key board skills are all essential. Previous relevant healthcare experience is advantageous.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
Location – Edinburgh Donor Centre.
Work pattern - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
