There are 2 positions available with this vacancy, 1 is a full time post 37.5hrs and the other is part time 34.5hrs.
(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.
To work within the nursing and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care to short stay medical patients and patients with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). Competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care for this defined patient group. Ensure that patient flow is maintained within a safe environment. You will Use your own initiative and acts independently within the bounds of your existing knowledge and skills. You will demonstrates sound judgment in assessing the emotional and physical care of the patient in a patient centred way. The candidate should have experience working as a registered nurse. Ward 46 is a 20 bedded dynamic / fast paced / acute clinical area. Staff care for two different types of patients:
- Short stay medical patients
- Patients who have had Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Patients are admitted from three pathways Emergency department / SATA and repatriation from the Neuro Institute. There are two consultant wards rounds twice daily. After a consultant review and if patient is clinically stable they would be discharged from unit or allocated a bed in appropriate downstream ward for their clinical requirements. As the unit has different specialities it is an excellent environment for staff to work to learn and develop clinical skills. The unit works in a team setup allowing staff members to support each other and utilise skills and knowledge of all members of the team. Ward 46 are well supported by the AHP Team who work with the nurses in the rehabilitation of the patients with TBI’s. We also have support from Navigators, palliative care, addictions team, liaison psychiatry service.
