Job Role:

​​​​​​​This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Adult Nurse Manager to join the DSU & Endoscopy Unit, based at University Hospital Monklands.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with proven Management experience, to provide support and leadership of Theatre, Recovery, Day Surgery Unit, Endoscopy and Decontamination services.

The successful individual will be responsible for Perioperative environments and organisation/management. The candidate must ensure that appropriate levels of service are provided and establish safe and effective patient care, whilst meeting agreed targets for quality and activity.

The post holder will also review all Perioperative procedures and practices, in order to improve the patient pathway where necessary through redesign of the service. As well as facilitating teaching and supervision to students undertaking pre and post registration training and departmental staff.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

The post holder must have the following:

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
  • Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
  • Ecexcellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills
