The AOS service provides unscheduled care to patients presenting / becoming unwell in out-patient and day case treatment areas, GP referrals or emergency admissions as well as those accessing services via the Cancer Treatment Helpline.  A nurse led model of care underpins the AOS service which is run by experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Staff within the AOS work collaboratively to assess and manage unwell patients with cancer which may be a new diagnosis, acute toxicity or side effects of anti-cancer treatments and importantly oncological emergencies such as MSCC. They liaise closely with primary teams and on call teams.
