An exciting new opportunity has arisen for Innovation and Improvement Advisors to lead and support a range of high-profile programmes and projects in Forth Valley. These posts will support NHS Forth Valley, working with Clackmannanshire and Stirling and Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnerships to deliver organisational priorities, with a particular focus on approaches that add value to the services that we provide.
A key aspect of your role will be engaging with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders including members of the public to support improvement programmes and projects in teams and services across our Directorates and in Health and Social Care Partnerships. You will work flexibly across the quality portfolio and have the opportunity to influence and lead key projects that improve experiences, outcomes and safety for the people who access our services, in line with the NHS Forth Valley Quality Strategy. Your responsibilities will also include building capability and capacity for quality improvement through the application of the Forth Valley approaches to QI and service design and have experience of and passion for teaching and coaching of QI skills to others.
NHS Forth Valley, working with our H&SCPs and West of Scotland Regional Planning, is also a Test Bed for health and care innovation.
These areas of work require passionate and experienced individuals confident to lead and support improvement in a complex system. We are looking for well-motivated people, educated to degree level or equivalent training in improvement science and have equivalent extensive practical experience of supporting innovation and improvement programmes. You will need to demonstrate excellent inter-personal and communication skills. We are seeking individuals whose values are aligned with our NHS Forth Valley values.
You must have experience of training in and the effective application of the model for improvement to lead the implementation of quality improvement programmes. Coaching improvement with frontline, multidisciplinary teams is also essential to the role of an innovation and improvement advisor.
You must have experience of working in health and care to support improvement projects which lead to quality person centred care across NHS Forth valley. The successful candidate will have evidence of considerable experience in innovation, service improvement and change management in large complex organisations. You will be expected to work at locations across NHS Forth Valley.
You will be required to evidence improvement expertise and programme management experience including the analysis of both qualitative & quantitative data. Reporting progress is also key and producing reports to a high standard is essential.
We are also looking for creative thinking and innovation skills, particularly in multi-agency and whole systems and ability to challenge the norm and test assumptions of others to develop new ideas and ways of working with values which align to our NHS Forth Valley values.
Internship: The internship is being offered as an opportunity for existing NHS Forth Valley or HSCP employees to come and work in a training post in the Quality Improvement team. There are 37.5 hours available and ideally shared with 2 candidates, but flexibility around the working hours can be discussed. The aim of the internship is to support the successful candidates to have the opportunity to continue to work in their substantive roles but also work with the QI team, to build their skills and expertise, and to share that QI and leadership learning in their substantive teams. Throughout the internship, there will be protected QI development/study time of 3 hours per week with evidence of applied QI methodology to a project and commitment to long term support of improvement work in their substantive role and across the organisation.
