A permanent Advanced Healthcare Science Practitioner post has become available within the Genetic Service. Applicants should have an Honours Degree in genetics, molecular biology or relevant biological science or SVQ level 4 equivalent in an appropriate biological science. Evidence of experience in key genetic techniques is essential and preference will be given to appropriately skilled applicants with NHS experience. The successful candidate will undertake analysis on a broad range of testing procedures on a variety of samples referred to the Service. The primary focus will be analysis and variant interpretation, initially in karyotyping and FISH and consequently must work in a careful and meticulous manner and adhere to all laboratory standard operating procedures. You will work closely with Senior Clinical Scientists and Technical Team Lead delivering genomic testing for a range of inherited and acquired disorders.

Continued professional development and training will be actively encouraged to enable the successful applicant to achieve appropriate registration as a Healthcare Science Practitioner.

The Regional Genetic Service is a large friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff who provide a first-class service to patients and families from Tayside /NE Fife and elsewhere in Scotland. The Service offers modern, well equipped facilities situated within Ninewells Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably motivated applicant to further their career within a diagnostic Genetic Service.
