South Cancer Research Network

CLINICAL TRIALS DATA MANAGER

Agenda for Change Band 5

37.5 hours per week

Salary:  £30,229 – £37,664

2 years fixed term

Base: Edinburgh Cancer Centre, Western General Hospital

The Western General Hospital is a participating centre of the Scottish Cancer Research Network (SCRN), an organisation which aims to increase patient participation in cancer clinical trials throughout Scotland.  The South East Scotland Cancer Research Network supports the provision of cancer clinical trials in a geographic area comprising the Health Board areas of NHS Lothian, NHS Fife, NHS Borders and NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Due to an expanding portfolio of clinical trials, we are now seeking to employ two full time Clinical Trials Data Manager’s. The post-holder’s will work alongside existing data management staff, as well as their medical and nursing colleagues to facilitate the collection of high quality data in the trials and to ensure that protocol requirements and recognised standards (such as ICH GCP) are met. The post-holder’s will be responsible for recording clinical data in case report forms (both paper and electronic) and liaising closely with clinical trial sponsors and co-ordinating centres to ensure that all aspects of the clinical trial meet regulatory guidelines

Educated to degree level or with relevant experience, you should have strong analytical and reporting skills and be able to focus on detail.  It would be preferable if you have previous experience in the clinical trial environment. Strong inter-personal and communication skills are essential for the development of professional relationships with medical, nursing, pharmacy and other staff groups involved in the support of clinical trials, and you must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing work environment.

Informal discussions or department visits are recommended and if you would like to discuss the post in more detail, please contact:
