An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of General Manager, Emergency Care and Medicine/Dermatology (Citywide), Clyde Sector within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. We are looking to appoint an experienced senior operational manager with a vision for the future. The successful candidate, will have the privilege of leading and supporting highly committed teams in the ECMS Directorate.

NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health system and teaching Board in Scotland with an annual budget of circa £3.9 billion (2022/23) it employs around 40,000 staff. We provide the full range of Acute, Mental Health, Community and Primary Care services to a diverse population of 1.2 million people in six local authority areas. The Role

Following on the excellent work of our current General Manager, the post holder will be accountable to the Clyde Sector Director for the operational management of the Specialty area ensuring resources are maximised to meet the Clyde Sector targets and objectives and that service provision. 

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join us who will bring the right value set and leadership competencies expected in a person centred environment.

​​​​​​​This role demands  an individual who will have the resilience to operate in the public sector, including NHS Boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships facing challenging times requiring improved performance, innovation and significant change.

Essential to the role is a track record of service delivery in a senior management position within a complex environment, preferably within the NHS or a similarly complex organisation in addition to significant experience of managing a range of multi-discipline NHS staffing groups.

Our ideal candidate will be educated to a Masters level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent, with in-depth, professional knowledge over a range of disciplines. Essential to the role is a high level of interpersonal, strategic, technical and person-centred leadership skills. A prerequisite for the role is the ability to demonstrate integrity and effective leadership together with a proven track record of achievement in strategy and policy implementation along with a comprehensive knowledge of NHS secondary/tertiary services.
