NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

This is an exciting opportunity to become the General Manager for eHealth in NHS Grampian and to work across the health and social care system in North East/North of Scotland to ensure that there is a high level of integration around the needs of patients and communities.

The role will lead the planning, delivery and integration of all information systems provided by NHS Grampian and provide professional advice on Information Technology, Digital Health solutions and information sharing issues to the Chief Executive Team of NHS Grampian.  Leading the very busy Department of eHealth will be a critical skill.

The postholder will lead and manage the transition towards comprehensive digital working for staff and the development of a digital interface with patients to support access to services and self management of conditions.  The role will also contribute to the development of a consistent strategic approach to digital working and planning across the North of Scotland, and nationally, to support the implementation of Scotland’s Digital Health and Care Strategy.

NHS Grampian is the third largest teaching Health Board in Scotland, with strong links to local Universities. The Board provides tertiary services to the 550,000 people of Grampian and residents of neighbouring NHS Boards; Orkney and Shetland. NHS Grampian employs around 17,000 staff.

To thrive in this role you will need a high level and current awareness of eHealth and other technologies in support of digitally-enabled service transformation. The ability to demonstrate strong and effective leadership and management skills together with a proven track record of achievement in strategy and policy and implementation is also essential.  You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with a post-graduate or management qualification and several years senior management experience in a large complex organisation.

Informal enquiries to Adam Coldwells, Deputy Chief Executive, NHS Grampian. Tel 01224 558675 or e-mail adam.coldwells@nhs.scot.

Closing date 10 August 2023.  Interviews are scheduled for 31 August 2023.
