An exciting opportunity has arisen to advertise a permanent Unit Support Nurse within Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit. The Spinal Injuries unit is permanently striving to modernise the national service, to embed person centered approach delivering a cohesive multi-displinary care delivery to improve/enhance outcomes for any patient who has sustained an acute spinal cord injury.
The post holder will support pathways to develop the service from admission to discharge. The post holder must have 5 years’ experience as a band 5. Knowledge and understanding of spinal cord injury is beneficial but not essential for the preferred candidate. The post holder will support the Education Nurse with research, education and quality improvement continuously striving to implement modern, holistic rehabilitative care within the ward setting. The post holder will support newly qualified nurses offering support guidance within their new role and also support to existing staff to ensure that staff are developing and enhancing knowledge within the special field. The post holder will offer support to patient, relatives and carers through education sessions and friends and families events that provide awareness of management with spinal cord injury, working closely with the education nurse. The post holder will offer support outpatient where there is an absence and outreach work using a hybrid approach of face to face and attend anywhere. The post holder will deliver leadership in the absence of senior staff clinically and support wards due to absence. The post is offered on a permanent, full time basis. Shift patterns can be considered with the successful candidate but will involve weekly cover.
