Following Scottish Government investment, the Scottish Ambulance Service, Civil Contingencies Response Programme is a complex multi-million pound project to enhance the pre-hospital response to operationally challenging and major incidents. As part of this Programme, an exciting opportunity has arisen to support the delivery of clinical decontamination training to clinical staff from across the central belt of Scotland. In addition to the delivery of specialist training, this unique role will also support service delivery through response to incidents in an operational support role. 

The Civil Contingencies Response Team Trainer position is a developing role with a changing portfolio. It is expected that in the future, in addition to the clinical decontamination training, there will be a requirement to deliver further specialist training in Major Incident Mass Casualty (MIMC) & Marauding Terrorist Attacks (MTA).

The Person

To be successful in this role you will have a flexible, can-do approach with excellent people skills and the ability to make decisions, at times in pressured situations. You will have developed excellent communication skills, both oral and written. It is vitally important that you are able to demonstrate the ability to work to a high standard using your own initiative and as part of a team within the multi-agency environment.

We would particularly like to hear from those who have, experience of SORT / HART operations or relevant experience from a CBRN / HAZMAT environment.  Working unsocial hours is a requirement.

Application and Selection

Successful candidates must be a registered HCPC Paramedic with desirable training skills and qualifications. A working knowledge of Special Operations / Hazardous Area Response as well as incident, exercise, and operational management experience would also be advantageous. The nature of the role means that you will be required to deal with classified information for which security vetting to (SC) will be required.
