Who We Are
Scotland has some of the best health data in the world and for more than 40 years these data have been used to understand and support improvements in health and healthcare. Information Services Division has created a specialist team, electronic Data Research and Innovation Service (eDRIS) based at the Bioquarter, Edinburgh to enable health research that benefits the public. One of the key components of our service is to provide a secure environment, known as the National Safe Haven, with the appropriate technology, software and computing power to facilitate their analytical infrastructure requirements. This is provided by Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC), University of Edinburgh.

What you'll do
•    Scope, design, develop and implement new functionality within the National Safe Haven in collaboration with EPCC to support local, national and International Research Infrastructure initiatives.
•    Provide expertise and guidance on the technical environment needs for research projects involving big data such as imaging, environmental or prescribing.
•    Oversee the security of the environment meets NHS Scotland standards and is adequately assessed, tested and documented
•    Troubleshoot/problem-solve issues raised by users of the National Safe Haven
•    Identify areas of opportunity and improvement

What you'll bring
•    A strong understanding of the benefits of data driven decision-making coupled with a knowledge of IT, problem solving and excellent communication skills
•    Experience of working business analysis, including requirements gathering and documentation
•    Ability to act as a sounding board for customers and provide evidence based and rational recommendations
•    Ability to analyse functional and non-functional requirements
•    Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate with internal and external customers with technical and non-technical backgrounds
