An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technicians to join our team. Working within the Pharmacy Department you will join our team providing a wide range of pharmacy services to patients in NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

This post is rotational offering experience in all aspects of hospital pharmacy including Dispensing services, Distribution, Near Patient Dispensing and Aseptic services including preparation of Cytotoxics and TPN products.  In addition, you will participate in supporting the provision of the department service undertaking pharmacy technician roles and responsibilities along with your extended role as a Final Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician. 

The post is suitable for:

  • A Pharmacy Technician registered (or pending) with the General Pharmaceutical Council


You will possess the qualification: SQA Final Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician and/or must obtain both the PDA Assessment & Supply of individual patient’s medicines and the L&D9DI Assessor for SVQ – Pharmacy Services.


You will participate in the weekend, departmental and public holiday rotas. The pharmacy service is provided from 8am to 8pm in the CAU and you will participate in this extended hours’ rota.  In accordance with AFC terms and conditions you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.


Driving license is essential.

There are positons at University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr. Please state in your application if you have preference.
