NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

West Quadrant Community Dietetic Service is looking for a Band 6 Dietitian to join the Learning Disability Practice Development Dietitian and provide a community dietetic service for people with learning disability across the West Quadrant locality.  The role is peripatetic and the base can be flexible to suit service, professional and personal need.

With the Practice Development Dietitian you will jointly manage the dietetic learning disability caseload across West Quadrant locality and Specialist LD inpatient units.  The Practice Development Dietitian will provide mentorship and clinical supervision and in partnership with the West Quadrant Team Lead provide supportive line management which embrace work life balance policies.

People with learning disabilities have multiple and complex co-morbidities.  Experience in a range of conditions with significant clinical experience in enteral feeding, nutrition support and dysphagia are essential for this role.  You will work as part of a dynamic MDT with health and social work colleagues to improve health outcomes and address inequalities for people with a learning disability. Using person centred approaches you will deliver assessment, intervention and treatment in a variety of settings; home, day services, specialist learning disability inpatient services, as well as delivering staff and carer education.

There will be scope in this role for reviewing and improving service delivery by undertaking quality improvement opportunities. In partnership with other Band 6 learning disability dietitians who provide peer support you will be a member of and contribute to the learning disability clinical effectiveness group.

You will be part of the wider West Quadrant Community Dietetic team, a friendly, forward thinking and enthusiastic community team which supports practice placements, clinical supervision, general community dietetics and innovation.

A BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics, HCPC registration and a full driving license are essential for this role.
