Working pattern Wed to Friday (08.30am until 16.30 hours W and T, 8.30-12.15pm Fri)
Health Visitors are responsible for a caseload within one of our Children & Families Health Visiting Teams within a geographical area.
North West Locality is an area with both pockets of community affluence and significant deprivation and vulnerability which benefits from being part of the Wider Glasgow City HSCP in terms of professional support and services.
The post holder will effectively manage a caseload, the size of which is determined using the national weight load measurement tool. The successful candidates will be the designated named HV for all Children within their caseload from antenatal to school entry age, excluding the unborn child. This requires the HV to commence the child’s planning process. In discharging these responsibilities, the post holder will have a responsibility to monitor the child’s wellbeing and assess and identify need. They will work in partnership with the child’s family and all involved agencies to develop a child’s plan which will be reviewed regularly to ensure outcomes are achieved.
The successful candidates will have a key role where child protection concerns are identified and will also support other vulnerable children. They will play a pivotal role within the interagency team with regard to family assessment, planning and delivery of Child Protection services. The successful candidates will also participate in regular supervision of child protection cases and work within current child protection policies and guidelines.
The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to participate in projects regarding future service development with the aim of improving outcomes for children and their families.
In accordance with NMC codes of practice and as a member of a team working in partnership with other agencies, the successful candidates will actively contribute to the creation of an environment that supports learning and development of all team members and pre and post registration students. They will also engage in and provide clinical supervision to enable all team members to continuously update, develop and implement current knowledge and skills to meet changing needs of the service.
Applicants must be a First level registered nurse with a currently valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a Post registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing.
They must show evidence of continuous professional development and a working knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to Child Protection, Children’s Act, Police Act and Vulnerable adults.
