Come and join our Emergency Medicine Team in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. We are looking for Specialty Doctors to work within our middle grade tier in Emergency Medicine. Ayrshire is a wonderful location to live and work with beautiful islands and beaches yet still an easy distance to Glasgow City and surrounding areas. We have world class outdoor pursuits on our doorstep and excellent local schools.
The successful candidate will have the choice of being based at University Hospital Crosshouse or University Hospital Ayr but would be expected to work in both sites. Appropriate time, support and development will be provided to allow the successful individuals to flourish and realise their professional and personal ambitions and access opportunities to build and shape the future service. We have had significant success in supporting doctors to CESR.
University Hospital Crosshouse ED is a busy DGH, seeing 75,000 patients per year, with over 25% of these being paediatric patients. We have a dedicated paediatric area and a Minor Injuries service. University Hospital Crosshouse is an Adult and Paediatric Trauma Unit as part of the Scottish Trauma Network. It is also provides the regional service for Stroke management.
University Hospital Ayr ED sees 40, 000 patients a year. Our new department opened in February 2016 with an adjacent Combined Assessment Unit next door as part of Ayrshire & Arran’s Building for Better Care project.
Both University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr are in the top 5 training departments for the whole UK for Emergency Medicine. We support a number of special interests including Trauma, Retrieval Medicine, Frailty, Child Protection, Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Education and Staff Wellbeing.
The Board has embarked upon an ambitious ten year strategic plan entitled Caring for Ayrshire. This involves developing a new model of care across the health and care system that will enhance the wellbeing of our patients and staff and build on the existing integration our services in which we are leading the way nationally.
This will offer unprecedented and exciting opportunities for ambitious new consultants to thrive within the current working environment as well as to shape future service delivery.
Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part time or job share basis will be considered. Opportunities may exist for Additional Programmed Activities subject to service requirements.
