This is a rare opportunity for a new or recently qualified HCPC Dietitian who is interested in working in a community and acute setting. This post will work closely with a specialist community Dietitian to provide a service to the Lochaber district, and be part of a wider NHS Highland Dietetic workforce.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills gaining clinical experience in a wide range of settings and is a great opportunity to consolidate practice. You will see both inpatient and outpatients including: general medicine including stroke; care of the elderly; surgery & orthopaedics; renal medicine; oncology; diabetes; paediatrics. Patients will be seen in a variety of settings: district general hospital; day case; outpatient clinics; care homes; domiciliary visits. As a community Dietitian with a wide a varied case load working as part of an integrated team is key, and you will also have opportunities for teaching, health improvement and service improvement. Thus this is an ideal starter post for someone who is looking for a wide range of experiences and opportunities.

You will have access to clinical supervision and support from a range of highly experienced senior staff across NHS Highland.  There will also be an opportunity to contribute to the student placement programme shaping the future of the Dietetic Workforce after 6 months of employment. 

NHS Highland will support your early employment as Band 4 Dietetic Support Worker prior to HCPC registration when you would then transfer to the Band 5 role therefore pre-graduate applications will be considered on the basis you will progress to full HCPC registration.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, can work well in a team, demonstrate good communication skills and has commitment to quality and improving patient care.
