NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position is Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.30 pm.
This post is a permanent post and will be based initially within the Rehabilitation service in Gartnavel Royal Hospital. Within the service there are a range of mental health specialties including adult acute admissions, intensive psychiatric care, rehabilitation and older peoples’ assessment and complex care.
The post holder will provide occupational therapy assessments and will be expected to have an understanding of the Model of Human Occupation and its application in clinical practice. The post holder will develop goal focussed treatment plans and will deliver a range of therapeutic occupation focussed interventions with patients. The post holder will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and adapt accordingly.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with other disciplines, relatives, carers and partner organisations is essential to this post.
The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise occupational therapy support staff.
The service provides regular supervision and opportunities for continuous professional development. The successful candidate will be part of a well established occupational therapy service which focuses on evidence based practice and effective multidisciplinary working.
