Band 5 Health Improvement Practitioner - Family Support & Information Services Officer, RHC 2 positions available (20 hrs per week / 0.53WTE) and Support & Information Services Officer, New Victoria ACH  (17.5hrs / 0.47WTE) 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with patients and the public within NHSGG&C hospitals to receive help & support when they need it most. Most people find a visit to hospital stressful and worrying and often feel particularly vulnerable.  NHSGGC Support & Information Services at Stobhill and Victoria Ambulatory Care Hospitals the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Vale of Leven Hospital and the Family Support and Information Service at the Royal Hospital for Children offer a range of services with a view to maximising health improvement opportunities and enabling people to live, and support others, with long term conditions. Services include crisis support, the provision of patient information (condition, lifestyle and service related), management of the on-site enquiry drop-in service, directly supporting patients to access community services (financial inclusion, counselling, literacy) and the delivery of health improvement services along with other organisations, both NHS and voluntary e.g. smoking cessation, weight management, support groups.  

The Family Support service offers additional support and advice to families of children who attend the Royal Hospital for Children.  

  • Experience of working in a relevant topic or skills based area, e.g. with adults/young people, mental health, physical activity, nursing, community development, training, research.
  • Proven experience of working in health improvement, public health or a relevant health/health improvement arena.
  • You should have a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • You should have experience in project management, partnership working, negotiation and problem-solving
  • There are 3x part-time posts available offered on a permanent basis.
  • Two posts will be based at the Royal Hospital for Children (20 hrs per week / 0.53WTE) and one post based at New Victoria ACH with a role of covering other hospital sites as required (17.5hrs / 0.47WTE)​​​​​​​
