Zimmer Biomet MSK Oncology Fellowship GRI

The West of Scotland Musculoskeletal Oncology Service is based at the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and is in collaboration with Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow.  The Musculoskeletal Oncology Service receives on average 15 tertiary referrals a week from various West of Scotland hospitals.  The Service is currently run by two Fellowship trained Musculoskeletal Oncology Consultants with support of two Nurse Specialists, Orthopaedic Trainees and Administrative Staff.  The Service has also been actively involved in Research Projects (both clinical and laboratory based) and achieving 4 to 5 publications in peer reviewed journals every year.

The successful applicant would be likely to get ample exposure to work at a Consultant level as an Orthopaedic Oncologist following completion of the Fellowship.

The Orthopaedic Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary has a connection with West of Scotland Deanery and also holds a Teaching Hospital status.

The grant would be used towards the salary of the fellowship applicant, pension and national insurance contributions. The working week of the Fellow would involve one full day of Orthopaedic Oncology operating, three Musculoskeletal Oncology clinics, and participation at the weekly National Sarcoma MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting, one day of protected research and one day of flexible involvement with other orthopaedic sub-specialties based on individual/unit needs.
