​​​​​​​An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Clinical Scientist to join the Clinical Biochemistry Department in Forth Valley as Clinical Lead. The role requires provision of a consultant level clinical service, expert consultative advisory service, teaching responsibility and clinical/scientific direction to the Clinical Chemistry Department. 

The department is based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital in a beautiful part of central Scotland which has excellent transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow. NHS Forth Valley Heath Board serves a population of around 300,000 in a diverse geographical area rich in diversity and cultural history.

The department provides support to the acute hospital, four community hospitals and to general practice.  The department is working towards ISO 15189. A direct ordering system is in place for primary and secondary care and new laboratory equipment which will provide end to end automation within the Blood Sciences area within a managed service contract has been implemented. 

A minimum of an MSc in a relevant scientific discipline is essential and fellowship of the appropriate scientific Institute/Royal College.

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council is an essential requirement to be able to practice.

An essential expectation is to have significant experience as a consultant clinical scientist and evidence of progression to senior management level.   This may be evidenced by the possession of a formal management or leadership qualification or evidence of being the professional lead for the scientific specialty.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Standard Police Act Disclosure Scotland Check.
