We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate staff to join our dynamic Critical Care teams within NHS Lothian. We have teams located at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and at St John’s Hospital Livingston.
Western General Hospital – Ward 20 ICU is a 10 bedded combined unit. The Western General is a leading hospital in the treatment of cancer and Haematological conditions for the East of Scotland. State of the art CAR-T therapy will soon be delivered here, as well as the regional specialties of infectious diseases, urology and colorectal. Ward 52 Surgical High Dependency is a 10 bedded HDU specialising in the care of colorectal and urology patients. The colorectal unit at the Western is one of the largest dedicated specialist centres for colorectal surgery.
Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Ward 118/116 - a large, diverse and innovative Critical Care Unit. Within the 42 bedded multi speciality unit we provide regional and national specialist care including Neuroscience, Vascular, Interventional radiology, Obstetrics, Hepatobiliary, Transplant, Upper GI and emergency care. The Royal Infirmary is now also a Major Trauma Centre supporting the Southeast Scotland major trauma network.
St John’s Hospital ICU/HDU – is a combined 7 bedded Critical Care unit specialising in ENT, maxillofacial surgery, Emergency Department Care, Obstetrics, Burns and Plastic Surgery.
We provide a supportive learning environment with both a supernumerary and probationary period tailored to your experience. We offer both the Foundation in Critical Care and Clinical Decision-making courses as well as other specialist study days supported by our education facilitation team. Our Units have an active multi-faceted education program offering simulation training. We offer flexible team working, access to rotation within the directorate and internal career progression.
Our team is committed to audit and research which provides a dynamic environment conducive to gaining additional skills, knowledge and expertise.
Our teamwork and our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to provide individualised and holistic care to our patients and strive to continually improve through quality improvement with input from the whole multi-disciplinary team.
