The shift pattern for this position is within Monday to Friday (9-5).
Applications are invited for a 0.7wte Band 8b Clinical Psychologist to work in our busy, innovative, friendly and supportive Paediatric Psychology team in the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. This is a permanent post for 26.25 hours and the post-holder must be able to work a Wednesday as one of their days.
Half of this post will have a specific remit for developing and delivering a new National Psychology Service for children and young people under the care of the Scottish National Centre for Craniofacial Surgery (SNCFS) based at the RHC, Glasgow. The other half will be to develop and deliver highly specialist psychology provision in other specialty areas within the wider department dependent on departmental need and the interests and expertise of the successful candidate. A key aspect of the post will also include providing clinical supervision to other qualified psychologists within the team and the post-holder will be expected to have significant experience in supervision. Paediatric Psychology has around 18 team members and the post-holder will form part of the senior staff group comprising 3 other band 8b Psychologists and 2 Consultant Clinical Psychologists.
The post-holder will be expected to have significant clinical experience in delivering specialist psychological intervention for children and young people with physical health conditions, and their families, both inpatients and outpatients, and will be expected to have good experience in
administering and interpreting cognitive assessments and working in multi-disciplinary teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for Paediatric Psychology who wants to work in a vibrant, busy and innovative Paediatric Psychology team in a large national children’s hospital. The post will be based at the Royal Hospital for Children on the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus, Glasgow.
The successful applicant may also be asked to work some sessions from the West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital campus. The RHC is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK and is the regional and national center for several medical specialties for children and young people across Scotland. Paediatric Psychology work closely with the other acute mental health/psychology teams within the hospital (Paediatric Liaison Psychiatry; Paediatric Neuropsychology; and Maternity and Neonatal Psychological Interventions).
These posts form part of a network of over 100 psychologists in Specialist Children’s Services in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and a much larger psychology workforce across the care groups in the health board. The service has strong links with both the Glasgow University Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology and the Edinburgh University MSc course in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People and there will be regular opportunities to supervise both doctoral and MSc trainees.
You will have a Doctoral level of qualification in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). You will have completed Supervision training.
