Spiritual Care Service
Registered Chaplain in Paediatrics and Maternity QEUH
Part-time 26.25 hours per week
Permanent Band 6 Grade
Salary: per annum, pro-rata for a p/t post
This is an exciting opportunity to join our spiritual care service in the largest health board in NHS Scotland. We are looking for someone to join our team of professionally registered chaplains, someone who is a flexible, team-player, either with experience and/or willing to complete their PG Cert in Healthcare Chaplaincy to fill a permanent, part time vacancy (3.5 days a week) in paediatrics and maternity with the need to provide similar support in adult acute settings by offering person centred, spiritual care and bereavement support for patients, carers, staff, students and volunteers, in the QEUH site and across all sites when on-call.
The post will focus on providing a high standard of spiritual care, bereavement support and staff and student support which includes palliative care and mental health wards. When on-call, every chaplain is expected to respond to any hospital site needs across NHSGGC serving a variety of multi-faith communities. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and respond to the growing spiritual care and bereavement needs of service users, alongside their chaplaincy colleagues across our health board. A high degree of professional integrity and adherence to the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy’s Code of Conduct and guidelines is expected to ensure the current and future development of a progressive spiritual care service in NHSGGC.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g., theological or religious studies or equivalent). A post-grad specialist training qualification in health care and chaplaincy/spiritual care is essential. You will have a good contemporary knowledge and understanding of NHS Scotland guidelines and recent and ongoing developments in NHS Scotland Spiritual Care.
Shift Pattern Core hours 9am – 5pm, 3.5 weekdays + out of hours on-call
