An exciting opportunity has arisen within Mental Health Nursing Services, currently we are looking to recruit an advanced nurse practitioner. This opportunity is open to qualified advanced nurse practitioners, existing band 7s and experienced band 6 nurses who are willing to undertake training as an ANP at a Masters level to become a qualified ANP. This Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner (MH ANP and/or trainee) role will be based within the unscheduled care mental health setting. The MH ANP will command a broad expert knowledge base and be able to provide professional advice in relation to the delivery of evidence based care and treatment of individuals with Mental Health needs/conditions. If you are interested in becoming a trainee ANP, you would be expected to undertake study at Master’s Degree level. On qualification at Masters level you would be appointed to a Band 7 ANP substantive post in the area you have trained in. The ANP will assess patients, plan and implement care, provide specialist advice and maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping. The role will work autonomously within the unscheduled care team to ensure a high standard, planned package of care is delivered for the defined patient group. With 5 years post registration mental health nursing experience 2 of which must be at band 6 or above, the post holder will use their advanced level of skill and theoretical knowledge to make senior level clinical decisions and manage their own workload. OFFICIAL Revised 24 May 2021 OFFICIAL Page 6 of 6 Using critical thinking, the ANP is able to analyse evidence, cases and situations in clinical practice, enabling a high level of judgement and decision making. The ANP will practice at an advance level, undertaking assessment, review and discharging patients where appropriate. This post will provide senior clinical leadership for nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team.  There is an expectation that the preferred candidate will enroll in the UWS ANP course Oct 23.
