Reporting to the Director of Public Health you will lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public health nutrition and a clinical dietetic strategy for Tayside that is based on current research evidence and intelligence and reflected in national and local plans.


As a consistent, effective and innovative member of the NHS Tayside Allied Health Professional (AHP) Leads under the leadership of the Director of AHPs, you will act as the professional lead for the dietetic profession in NHS Tayside, providing professional governance and strategic direction to dietitians.


Working independently and in collaboration with multi-agency and multi-disciplinary personnel, you will act as an expert providing clinical leadership and coordinating the efforts of partner organisations to improve nutrition within the context of clinical nutrition and dietetics, and public health nutrition (covering all age groups and focusing on nutrition-related inequalities) in a variety of settings. Key to your success will be your ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical personnel across Tayside.


You will have a first level Degree or post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics plus a post-graduate Masters in an appropriate discipline such as public health, human nutrition, or dietetics.  In addition, you will be working towards a doctorate (or have the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience plus further recent development of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in nutrition and dietetics contributing to education at doctorate level). 


You will be a Registered Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council and it is desirable that you are a Registered Public Health Nutritionist and hold membership of British Dietetic Association.


You will have considerable post-graduate or post-registration practice of public health nutrition and clinical dietetics working at a senior level in various NHS settings (acute, primary care, community) and service/operational experience including staff and budget management. It is crucial that you can demonstrate advanced communication and influencing skills.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
