Edinburgh Respiratory Physiology Service
An opportunity has arisen for motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our team working in Respiratory Physiology.
The Respiratory Physiology Service provides a full range of diagnostic tests and assessments to the three hospitals in Lothian, the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE), Western General Hospital (WGH) and St. Johns Hospital, Livingston.
Applicants for the Trainee post should already have a relevant degree (e.g. Physiology or similar) and will receive in service training within the Respiratory Physiology department, covering all aspects of routine Respiratory Function tests and assessments. The post holder will be required to complete the Association of Respiratory and Technology (ARTP) professional exams and gain PTP equivalence through the Academy of Healthcare Science (ACHS) as part of their training.
The post-holder will be self-motivated, innovative and capable of managing their own workload in an efficient and flexible manner. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and successful candidates will benefit from further advanced training on qualifying. The successful applicant will be required to work at any of the hospital sites in Lothian as required.
On completion of training applicants will be expected to participate in weekend working as required.

Respiratory Physiology Service
*Please note this is a Trainee post, therefore Annex 21 applies*
For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:
- up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
- more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified;
- more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
- more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
