NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for two pharmacy technicians to join our friendly and supportive Aseptic team. NHS Tayside hosts one of only thirteen Aseptic Dispensing Units in Scotland. The unit is based at Ninewells Hospital and the main function is to prepare and supply ready to administer patient specific doses of injectable chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition to patients across NHS Tayside.

You will be an active member of the pharmacy technician team delivering the aseptic service. You will participate in the accurate and safe preparation of aseptic products within clean room facilities.

In addition, you will contribute to the training of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers and to the implementation of agreed developments to contribute to the maintenance of audit standards.

You must possess the ability to work under pressure.  You must be a registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) who holds a recognised accuracy checking qualification or willing to work towards this.

Applications are welcomed from newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technicians with no previous aseptic experience. If the successful applicant does not meet the minimum criteria for a band 5 they will be placed on the band 4 scale and supported through the relevant training to progress to a band 5. The applicant would be expected to complete the PACT (Pharmacy Aseptic Checking Technician) qualification.
