Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is a Special Health Board whose mission is to contribute to the highest quality of healthcare throughout NHS Scotland by promoting best practice in the education and life-long learning of all staff.

The core function of the NMAHP Directorate is to support the education, training and continuing professional development of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, health and social care chaplains and their support workers.  The Directorate is also responsible for providing education, training and workforce development across wider professional groups and disciplines, often in partnership with other agencies, to support key policy imperatives such as Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI), dementia and health and social care integration.

What You’ll Do

A key part of NHS Education for Scotland’s Strategy 2019- 2024, is our ongoing commitment to supporting NHS Boards to ensure high-quality learning and employment environments and the continuous learning and professional development of frontline nurses and midwives. We are offering an opportunity to join the national network of Practice Educators. The Practice Educator will be employed by NHS Education for Scotland and will be hosted within NHS Lanarkshire.

The Practice Educator is an integral role within NHS Scotlands’ practice education infrastructure. The post holder will ensure access to learning and development resources directly relevant to clinical care closer to where nurses and midwives practice. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated registered nurse or midwifery educator to provide visible and sustained educational leadership, working collaboratively across NHS Education for Scotland and the NHS Board. A key outcome for the post is to support the education and development of nurses and midwives across the NHS career framework, particularly focusing on levels 5 and 6 practitioners in caregiving roles. As a Practice Educator, you will have access to the national network and regional support from your manager and peers.
