An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join our Clyde Surgical Colorectal Team as a Stoma Care Nurse based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and also working at Royal Alexandra Hospital.  The post-holder will assist in the ongoing support and education of patients, relatives and staff to provide proactive, comprehensive, co-ordinated and effective care and treatment for patients undergoing surgery which results in stoma formation. This successful applicant will provide general nursing care and specialist nursing care to pre - and post – operative patients having undergone major elective and emergency surgery. The role of the Stoma Care Nurse will also be to follow up care after discharge from hospital and arrange return outpatient appointments to the stoma care service.  The Stoma Care Nurse will maintain expert professional practice through CPD and involvement with Professional specialist groups and will establish and provide educational initiatives for healthcare staff. Applicants will be a First Level Registered Nurse on the NMC Register with extensive surgical nursing experience and a good level of knowledge of colorectal surgical procedures.  Further evidence of Continual Professional Development in Stoma Care /Colorectal Nursing is desirable.  The post holder is expected to provide cover across both IRH and RAH sites, working 37.5 hours over 5 days Monday - Friday.
