Hours: Part Time 1 Session  (4 Hours)

What you'll do   

The Scotland Deanery is recruiting to the role of Associate Postgraduate Dean: Co-Chair, Trainee Development and Wellbeing Service Board.  This is an exciting opportunity for an individual committed to our vision of delivering a holistic, accessible, and equitable trainee development and wellbeing service which empowers all doctors in training in Scotland to achieve their full potential. 

The postholder will, alongside the Deputy LDD co-chair the TDWS Operational Group and will provide agile, collaborative and inclusive leadership in the final development phase, launch, and ongoing enhancement of a refreshed, expanded and streamlined portfolio of services for the >6000 doctors in training programmes in the Scotland Deanery.  


What you'll bring  

The APGD should be a Consultant, General Practitioner or Career Grade Doctor and will be accountable to the Lead Dean/Director. They may also combine the role with other senior medical educator roles. 

  • Experience and/or Qualifications in providing/leading professional support for doctors in training 

  • Practical experience supporting trainees and trainers 

  • Experience as a Training Programme Director, Associate Postgraduate Dean or other position involving training responsibility. 

  • Broad understanding of equity, inclusivity equality, and differential attainment considerations as they apply to trainee wellbeing and support 

  • Applied knowledge and experience of the postgraduate medical training process and guidance within the context of trainee support 

  • Able to manage a team 

  • Experience of involving and valuing trainees in decision making
