Join NHS Highland older adult mental health services at an exciting time of change and new emerging service models. This is a new post which will have a lead role in the development of stress and distress behavioural and psychological interventions across care home, wider community and hospital settings.
The post holder will be part of a small team undertaking training to various staff groups in relation to reducing stress and distress in dementia i.e. The Newcastle Model and The Essentials in Psychological Care for care home staff. Following training the post holder will continue to offer support to staff groups in the implementation of approaches and will work with wider colleagues to develop a stress and distress network across North Highland.
In addition the post holder will provide an advanced nursing service including advanced clinical examination and non-medical prescribing to individuals who otherwise would have been seen by psychiatry in crisis and / or admitted to hospital;. The approach is aimed at enabling people to be effectively cared for in their home environment however the post holder will have access psychiatry or hospital admission when required.
The post holder will be a registered mental health nurse who ideally holds an ANP qualification, however work towards this including an NMP qualification and evidence of ongoing professional development will be considered. Experience at delivering nurse led clinics would be advantageous as is excellent communication skills and the confidence to deliver training to various staff groups.
The post will be based at New Craigs Hospital but travel across North Highland is required for the delivery of training as well as the development of a stress and distress network across the area.
