Job Advert
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is 3 days over 7, including weekends and PHs.
As a clinical leader, the ANP has the freedom and authority to act autonomously in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, including prescribing, of patients with multi-dimensional problems. This includes the authority to refer, admit and discharge within appropriate clinical areas.
The post holder will independently utilise a broad range of advanced knowledge, skills and theory in the initial physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients under the care of an Orthopaedic Consultant. A fundamental part of the role is early detection and intervention of clinical deterioration in existing or new medical conditions and the ANP will independently assess patients, order and analyse test results, prescribe treatment and monitor effectiveness. Daily review of patient notes, ensuring each patient has a comprehensive daily management plan pre and post-operatively, is part of the ANP role.
In addition to being a first responder to critical patients, the ANP is central to the daily clinical and medical management of approximately 30 patients within a designated ward and boarded Orthopaedic patients in other wards.
This post is not suitable for an Annex 21 training post
