This is a great opportunity to join our dynamic, integrated dietetic department. We provide a clinical dietetic service to adults and children across a range of specialist services in Acute and Community Hospitals and, the wider Primary Care Setting. We also have excellent links with Pharmacy/Prescribing and Health Promotion Teams.

This post: 0.9 WTE Band 6 or 7 Dietitian to work across our service based within the Older People’s Team (OPS). 

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Dietitian to develop and provide a comprehensive Dietetic service for individuals with Dementia. You should have excellent clinical, organisational, communication and people skills. 

This post will cover a range of clinical areas with a focus on the nutritional consequences of Dementia. You will be based at Cameron Hospital with the OPS team. The team comprises of 5.0 wte Dietitians, 1.2 wte Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) and administration support.

The caseload includes Community outpatient clinics, Care Homes and cover for Community Hospital inpatients across Fife. Close liaison with many of the clinical nurse specialists, palliative care nurses and advanced practitioner nurses will be required.

NHS Fife operates a non prescribing ordering (NPO) model for Oral Nutritional Supplements (ONS) and Enteral Feeds. You will support the work of the prescribing support dietitian with regard to ongoing clinical and cost efficiencies to ensure appropriate prescribing of nutritional products.

You will be supported by the Clinical Lead Dietitian and by your peers within the OPS team and across the Service.

The Nutrition & Dietetic Service

This is a Fife wide service providing a range of Dietetic Care to a Children and Adults in both Community and Acute Hospitals. The Service is currently arranged into clinical teams for; Acute, Adult Weight Management & Child Healthy Weight, Diabetes, Mental Health & Learning Disabilities, Nutritional Support, Older People, and Infant Nutrition & Paediatrics. There is also a Specialist Dietitian working in the Health Promotion Food & Health Team. Fife has a Non-Prescribing Ordering Model (Off Script) for Oral Nutritional Supplements and Enteral Feeds. Our service also includes Non-Medical Prescribing Dietitians.

The Dietetic Service takes both undergraduate and graduate Dietetic students for B & C programmes each year, involving staff in the delivery and organisation of the programmes. 

The Service runs regular Training sessions and supports staff in their continuing professional development. The Service has good administration support, Information Technology, social media, and online resources. A move to electronic records will commence later in 2023.

Registered with HCPC, you will have the skills, competencies and experience appropriate for the post. Induction and training will be provided to facilitate transition into your new role.
