Senior Staff Nurse – Ward 1/HDU (Ref: 167092)

Part Time – 24.75 hours per week Fixed-Term for 12 months

Band 6 - Salary Range £37,831 - £46,100 per annum

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,256 per annum

Relocation Assistance of up to £4,000 available


Our surgical care ward provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, gynaecology, ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, orthopaedic, as well as general surgery. The ward has 22 beds including 2 for high dependency care patients.


This contract is for a fixed-term for 12 months. The reason for the fixed-term contract is to cover maternity leave. 


As a Senior Staff Nurse you will assist in managing a team of nursing staff on this ward, including Registered Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and student nurses.  You will also provide nursing leadership and expertise and contribute to the education, training and support of fellow health professionals.  


You will be a Registered General Nurse with post registration experience gained as a Band 5. You will have a broad knowledge of surgical care and high dependency experience or a willingness to undertake high dependency training. You will have excellent communication skills, experience of mentoring/preceptorship and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential. Skills in audit and policy work would be desirable.
