This is a fixed term position of 1 year.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday-Friday.

This is a test of change fulltime Assistant Psychology post for one year to offer assessments of intellectual disability to young people within the Glasgow city area at key transitions of leaving primary and leaving high school. Training and supervision will be provided. It is an exciting time of innovation and change with lots of opportunities within neurodevelopmental services. We are looking for an enthusiastic assistant psychologist to join with us. This post will provide support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Specialist Children’s Services, providing psychological assessment under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. You will also assist in clinically-related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work. There are also opportunities for peer supervision.

Applicants will have an honours degree in Psychology at 2:1 or above and preferably prior relevant NHS experience and experience of working with young people and their families/carers.

You will join a group of over 100 Psychologists working with children and young people in a variety of settings with good professional support and supervision, plus strong working relationships with other disciplines and agencies.

The service has strong links both with the University of Glasgow Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and the University of Edinburgh MSc Course in Applied Psychology for Children and Adolescents.
