NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The post provides comprehensive business administrative and clerical support to multiple and diverse services. The post-holder will contribute significantly through efficient provision of a variety of secretarial and administrative duties. The post-holder works independently for much of the time and demonstrates a clear understanding of the service.
The post-holder will participate in the day to day administration of the service. They will work closely with business support and clinical staff within the service.
The post is an essential part of the support to the multi-disciplinary team. The post-holder is required to communicate with staff within the wider NHS organisation and those external to the organisation who have contact with the service. The post-holder is required to have excellent communication skills and has an important role in projecting a positive and professional image of the service concerned using their initiative to support the local multi-disciplinary team. They may have to act in the absence of direct supervision with tact and diplomacy.
Level of experience/knowledge required:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. ECDL
- Accurate keyboard, general office and reception procedures.
- Competent working with figures.
- Basic medical terminology advantageous.
