We have a new post of Lead Waiting Times Coordinator, managing the endoscopy matrix and working towards the achievement of national cancer waiting times targets for diagnostics procedures and the tumour groups this supports.

The successful application will be motivated, enthusiastic and have proven knowledge and experience of waiting times management.

The remit of this post is to support the Service Management Team for Endoscopy to deliver and achieve national Cancer waiting times for Endoscopy and Surgical Services.

This is a key post established to implement, manage and monitor administrative systems to achieve NHS Lothian and national waiting time targets and guarantees.

To ensure achievement of national and local targets and guarantees for urgent suspicion of cancer

To provide and improve efficiency of sessions and in session utilisation for endoscopy

To reduce inappropriate demand on services

To develop and implement best practice

To work closely with other Gastroenterology and Colorectal services

To manage referrals to external hospitals providing additional capacity

To provide regular waiting times/list information to senior management and medical staff

To oversee selection of appropriate patients to ensure safe and timely escalation for USOC referred patients

To ensure by way of management of waiting list co-ordinator/s and medical secretaries effective administrative service in relation to Waiting List management

Ensure prompt and accurate input of patient details to appropriate waiting lists and booking of elective patients

Where applicable ensure confirmation of booking to reduce DNA rate and maximize theatre utilisation

Liaise with Bed Management/wards re bed availability for elective in-patients.
