The Service Support Manager supports the General Manager and Clinical Service Managers in providing direct operational and strategic management to the Surgery Service and Major Trauma Centre in the South Sector
Key tasks include:
- Managing outpatient and inpatient/day-case waiting lists in line with Scottish Government ‘New Ways’ guidance and Patient’s Rights Act 2011.
- Managing clinic & theatre capacity to ensure that clinical priorities and waiting time targets are met through effective use of available resources.
- Leading service improvement projects with multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Operational input to arranging clinical cover, ensuring service continuity.
- Providing support to the Major Trauma Centre as required
- Providing support to CSMs junior doctor staffing and rota issues
The Service Support Manager works extensively with multi-disciplinary clinical teams. The role offers an excellent development opportunity for an experienced administrative manager seeking to manage clinical services.
Applicants will require:
- 3 years’ experience managing staff, preferably within an NHS administrative setting.
- Highly-developed skills in planning and organisation, written and verbal communication, numeracy and IT, and team-working
- Excellent leadership, teaching and negotiating skills, with the ability to organise, motivate and develop staff.
- Ability to work on own initiative, make decisions and deal with numerous concurrent tasks of varying timescales.
