Respiratory Physiology Service

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to lead the Respiratory Physiology service in Edinburgh.

The Respiratory Physiology Service provides a full range of diagnostic tests and assessments to the hospitals in Lothian, the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE), Western General Hospital (WGH) and St. Johns Hospital (SJH).

The post holder will be responsible for strategic planning, operational management and delivery of a range of adult respiratory diagnostic services across multiple sites within Lothian.

Applicants should have extensive experience in Respiratory Physiology and possess a BSc Hons in Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification in Physiological Measurement. Ideally applicants should also have MSc in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent experience gained from clinical practice. Applicants should be registered with RCCP, AHCS or HCPC. Experience in Cardiopulmonary exercise testing and teaching/supervisory qualifications are essential.

The post-holder will be self-motivated, innovative, with excellent time management skills and capable of managing and developing staff.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development. The successful applicant will usually be based at the RIE but will be expected to work at any of the hospital sites in Lothian. The applicant should also be flexible with regards working pattern, as some weekend working may be required.

Known as the Festival City for its annual international festival of the arts, Edinburgh has a wealth of attractions to offer as well as easy links to the Borders and Highlands for those interested in exploring the Scottish countryside. There are excellent transport facilities within the city with good bus routes to the hospitals, along with park and ride facilities for those who commute by car and also good rail, road and air links to the rest of the UK.
