We are currently hiring a Clinical Development Fellow to join our esteemed team at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Major Trauma Centre in Glasgow. In this role, 20% of your time will be focused on development efforts supported by a team of dedicated experts in each respective development field.

We have vacancies for fellows in Sports Medicine and Teaching & Education commencing in February 2024 for a 6-month period.
Sports Medicine
In this role, 20% of your time will be focused on working in Sport and Exercise Medicine based at the Hampden Sports Clinic at the National Stadium at Hampden Park.
Hampden Sports Clinic is one of the most highly regarded sports clinics in the UK and provides clinical care and rehabilitation services to athletes from professional to amateur and across all sporting disciplines as well as to members of the general public.
You will be working with a multidisciplinary team of sports clinicians, physiotherapists, sports scientists and podiatrists. You will work under the tutorage of Dr Jonny Gordon and Dr Kevin Thomson both of whom work as consultants in EM at the QEUH and also with the Scotland Mens A squad. We envisage further opportunities will allow you to spend time with the medical teams at the Queens Park FC and Glasgow Warriors rugby team.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct research and contribute to scientific publications, making a valuable contribution to the field of Emergency Medicine (and Sports Medicine)
- Actively participate in the care of trauma patients, ensuring the highest standard of care is provided.
- Contribute to the education and training of medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals especially in teaching the MSK skills learned at Hampden.
- Participate in medical screening examinations and investigations.
- Utilise your learning at Hampden to cross pollinate the learning you gain at the QEUH to provide better care for your patients and better learning for your colleagues.
Teaching & Education
Our Teaching CDF’s will join our education team headed up by our education faculty. You will participate in the development, organisation and delivery of in-house education, induction and SIM training. We currently have 6 educational events ranging from CDF led undergraduate teaching, weekly departmental educational events, resus skills & drills, junior and senior trainee teaching. There will also be an opportunity to teach undergraduates through the University of Glasgow.
This year we are looking for enthusiastic CDF’s to help us develop a bespoke and innovative teaching programme for both undergraduates and post-graduates using a combination of face-to-face, online and SIM training. Are you up to the challenge?

Whilst prior experience in Emergency Medicine is desirable it is not an absolute requirement. Posts are available from February 2024 for a 6-month period. Applicants should have achieved foundation level competencies and have worked for at least 6 months within the NHS (excludes clinical attachments and observership posts).
You will take part in our award-winning education programme which will provide you with the core teaching and supervision similar to that of an FY2 / CT1. We would also be delighted to receive applications for more experienced doctors looking to take their emergency medicine skills to a more advanced level. You could be our next Senior Fellow and would take full advantage of our senior teaching program for ST3 and above.
These posts have not been approved for Training purposes by NES. To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence. All candidates must be available to commence work on 7th February 2024.
