To provide support to the NHS Lothian’s Lead Health, Safety Adviser across all functions of the organisation to meet legal responsibilities.

Providing professional advice, challenge, and intervention with regard to health and safety matters.

On a day-to-day basis you will assist in the monitoring and development of the NHS Lothian’s Health and Safety Management System as well as supporting accident and incident investigations, identifying continuous improvement opportunities to drive safety performance.

NHS Lothian is responsible for meeting the health needs of circa 800,000 people living in and around Edinburgh. We employ approximately 26,000 staff and provide a comprehensive range of services for the populations of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian, and West Lothian in a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical work activities.

A high level of, qualification, knowledge and experience are required. The following are essential.

  • Holder of health and safety qualification such as National Examination Board of Occupational Health and Safety Diploma (NEBOSH) or SVQ Level 5 in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
  • Chartered Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) or clear evidence of working towards CMIOSH.
  • Significant experience working within a large complex multi-site organisation.
