National Professional Lead - Practice Manager (Ref: 169717)

Scotland – hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future. This is a national role, travel throughout Scotland may be required.
An excellent opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and positive Practice Manager to be part of the delivery of an innovative programme to support the work of the Nursing and Systems Improvement Directorate within Healthcare Improvement Scotland. This role will provide professional input and advice to support a new commission, the Primary Care Phased Investment Programme. This programme aims to:
- improve implementation of the General Medical Services (GMS) contract with a focus on pharmacotherapy and community treatment and care (CTAC) services
- develop a culture of continual improvement across primary care settings, and
- build evidence to understand the national context for implementation.
As an experienced manager, currently working in GP practice in Scotland, candidates will have a good understanding of the role of general practice within the wider health and care system. Knowledge of and recent experience in developing and implementing improvements and service redesign in a primary care setting is also essential. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be fundamental to success in this role, as will the ability to build strong professional networks.
It is important for candidates to have an understanding and experience of quality improvement methods. In addition, candidates will have experience and knowledge of Scottish health and social care systems and structures, including strategic plans and initiatives in primary care. This role will involve working with key national partners and senior leadership teams in NHS boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs).

It is anticipated that interviews will be held in person in Glasgow on Friday 9 February 2024. Virtual interviews via MS Teams may be considered.

As a secondment opportunity, interested candidates will need the support of their existing manager/ NHS board/HSCP before applying for the post.
*We are open to applications for 1 day per week (0.20 WTE) as we would consider joint postholders making up to the full 0.40 WTE. Please indicate on your application how much of the 0.4 WTE you would be available to work in this role (either 0.20 or the full 0.40 WTE).
