Band 7 Advanced Health Protection Nurse Fixed-term: 12 months Maternity leave cover.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Health Protection Team in NHS Lothian as a Band 7 Advanced Health Protection Nurse. The post is based in the Department of Public Health and Health Policy in the Waverly Gate office in Central Edinburgh. This is a 1 year fixed term 37.5 hours per week post to cover Maternity leave, secondments will be considered.
The Health Protection Nurse utilises high levels of decision making and clinical judgement to ensure public health protection needs are met through assessing, advising and implementing effective communicable disease control and community infection, prevention and control methods. Partnership and team working are key to this post.
The post holder will provide highly specialist advice and training to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, patients and their relatives. The role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator and auditor.
The post holder will develop aspects of the service to improve practice and work collaboratively across healthcare and local authority boundaries, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policies. Taking a lead role on specific aspects of the service.
The Health Protection Team in NHS Lothian is joining with Health Protection Teams in Fife, Forth Valley and Borders to create an East Region Health Protection Service. This is an exciting time to join a growing team allowing you the opportunity to deliver a robust health protection service in a large board.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
