The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
Are you motivated, innovative, flexible and looking for the next stage in your career or a change of role?
If so, we are seeking to recruit a Deputy Accountable Pharmacist to join the Aseptic Dispensing Unit (ADU) in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Dundee is Scotland’s fourth largest and sunniest city. Known for its lively nightlife, shops and culture, Dundee has been rated by The Sunday Times in 2019 as the best place to live in Scotland.
Ninewells is a major teaching hospital in NHS Tayside, Scotland’s fourth largest healthcare provider, delivering a wide range of specialties. Within the ADU you will work with the Accountable Pharmacist, two other Deputy Accountable Pharmacists and an excellent team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers.
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and development of a high quality, patient-centred aseptic service, including participation in, and preparation, for internal and external audits and the delivery of service improvement plans. You will manage the ADU in the absence of the Accountable Pharmacist providing supervision and ensuring adherence to the quality management system, supporting the further development of your management and leadership skills.
For a band 7 level the post holder will be a registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council and have completed the NES post-registration foundation training programme or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and behaviours.
For a band 8a level the post holder should have a post graduate Diploma/MSc or be able to demonstrate evidence of advanced professional practice knowledge, training and experience equivalent to that level (e.g development of evidence within the core advanced pharmacist practice portfolio)
* Pharmacists employed at band 7 level would be expected to engage with the core advanced pharmacist practice programme. Advancement to an 8a level would be granted upon assessment of the required evidence developed within the core advanced pharmacist practice portfolio.
There is the potential for the successful candidate to be supported through the Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) diploma starting in September 2024 (subject to availability of spaces on the course).
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 19th December. There will not be a presentation as part of the interview process. Candidates will however be expected to come prepared to demonstrate and discuss the evidence that would describe their equivalent experience to the post registration foundation curriculum (https://www.rpharms.com/development/credentialing/post-registration-foundation) and the core advanced curriculum (https://www.rpharms.com/development/credentialing/core-advanced-pharmacist-curriculum).
The post holder will be required to contribute to weekend, extended hours and public holiday rotas as per service requirements.
Informal enquiries can be made to Catherine Nelson, Accountable Pharmacist, Telephone 01382 660111 Ext 32489.
