Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint a Locum Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health.  This is an exciting time in NHS Forth Valley with the opportunity to help develop the service in line with the national and local NHS Forth Valley Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus (BBV) strategies, in addition to “Reset and Rebuild”- the Scottish Government’s recovery plan for Sexual Health and BBV.

NHS Forth Valley’s integrated sexual health service has been known as ‘Central Sexual Health’ since 2009. Clinics are currently based in several locations including Falkirk Community Hospital, Stirling Community Hospital and Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre.   Specific young person clinics, known as ‘Sorted on Sex’ are in place to improve accessibility.  Central Sexual Health also provides care and management for people living with HIV infection. Long acting contraception is promoted within all clinics. Central Sexual Health utilises the national IT system for sexual health services, NaSH.

There are three prisons within Forth Valley that the sexual health team support with regards to HIV and Sexual and Reproductive health.

In order to progress the implementation of the National Sexual Health Strategy, “Respect and Responsibility” within Forth Valley, a multi–agency group was established to oversee the development and implementation of a joint Forth Valley Sexual Health Strategy.  The remit of the local strategy is to ensure a coherent approach to the provision of sexual health services and to promote sexual health and well-being.

Following the publication of The Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Framework 2011-2015 it was decided that Forth Valley would integrate Sexual Health and BBV at strategic level to further progress.

NHS Forth Valley is part of the West of Scotland Managed Clinical Network for Sexual Health where sexual health services in five NHS Boards co-operate in planning and delivery, with the aim of achieving continuous service improvement.

Since March 2020, a number of changes have had to be made to the services delivered by Central Sexual Health in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The service is now in a phase of rebuilding and further changes to the model of care are likely as the process continues.

You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues.  Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
