FULL TIME (10 PA, including up to 2 SPA)

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint a Consultant in Ophthalmology. This post has arisen due to an existing vacancy within the department. The successful applicant will join the area consultant ophthalmology team and will share responsibility for providing a comprehensive clinical service in Forth Valley. Participation in the out of hours on call rota is essential (1:7).


Applicants will be expected to have broad ophthalmology training; those with sub-specialty interest in neuro-ophthalmology and adult squint would be preferred. The applicant must also be a competent cataract surgeon as we seek to increase the average number of cases per list.

Applicants should have full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Applicants will be in possession of the FRCOphth or equivalent, registered with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT at the time of interview or have a certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). Applicants are required to have evidence of recent continued academic and professional development. Excellent, communication, listening and organisational skills are essential.
