Applications are invited for the post of NHS Locum Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to cover maternity leave from February 2024 to April 2025.

We are looking to appoint a full time Locum Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in the East Ayrshire Locality. Serving a population of around 15000 Older people in a mostly urban catchment area of Kilmarnock, which is within easy reach from Glasgow, the successful applicant will join seven other consultant colleagues in delivering a comprehensive mental health service for older people in NHS Ayrshire and Arran.

The post will be based at North West Kilmarnock Area Centre, with acute inpatient facilities in the new purpose-built facility at Woodland View unit, at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine. The successful applicant will have consultant responsibility for a shared proportion of these inpatient beds. The Consultant’s office, the community team and medical secretary are based at North West Kilmarnock Area Centre.

Participation in the out of hours rota (approx. 1:26) is normally expected.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran serves the local authorities of South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire with a total population of approximately 365,000

The appointment will be subject to the terms and conditions of service of the Consultant Grade (Scotland).

Appropriately experienced applicants must have full registration and current Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Registrar.  CCT is desirable
