The shift pattern is Monday to Friday 0800-1600 hours
NHS GG&C, South Sector Service Support Manager, Theatres, Anaesthetics & Critical Care Band 6, based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital The Service Support Manager for Theatres, Anaesthetics & Critical Care (TACC) supports the TACC Management Team in providing direct operational and strategic management to the TACC service across South Sector. TACC provides Theatre and Anaesthetic services across three hospital sites with 44 operating theatres and a Critical Care service with a 79-bed unit at the QEUH. The TACC Management Team consists of one General Manager, one Clinical Service Manager, two Clinical Directors, 4 Lead Clinicians, and four Lead Nurses. Key tasks include:
Overseeing the theatre scheduling and critical care booking processes
Operational input to arranging & maintaining clinical cover, ensuring service continuity and minimising cancellations.
Lead responsibility for production, management and presentation of clinical activity data, including key performance indicators
Lead responsibility for coordination of departmental responses to complaints
Lead responsibility for administrative services within TACC, via Admin Manager who manages team of 10 staff and reports to the Service Support Manager
Involvement in service improvement projects with multidisciplinary clinical teams
Providing operational support to the department on a wide range of matters, including estate, equipment, IT, finance, communications.
The Service Support Manager works extensively with multi-disciplinary clinical teams within and beyond TACC. The role offers an excellent development opportunity for an experienced administrative manager seeking to manage clinical services. Applicants will require
a Degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
3 years’ experience managing staff, preferably within an NHS administrative setting.
Highly-developed skills in planning and organisation, written and verbal communication, numeracy and IT, data management and presentation, and team-working
Excellent leadership, teaching and negotiating skills, with the ability to organise, motivate and develop staff.
Ability to work on own initiative, make decisions and deal with numerous concurrent tasks of varying timescales.
