To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran has invested significantly in mental health service development over recent years following a major strategic review, which has resulted in the creation of a 24 hour crisis service, expansion of primary care mental health services and new in-patient hospital with access to rehabilitation.  All acute psychiatric beds are sited in our purpose-built inpatient unit, Woodland View, which opened on the Ayrshire Central Hospital campus in Irvine in 2016.   In addition, the development of a 72-hour nurse led admission unit is to be trialled and will be the first such national unit.

A vacancy has arisen for one enthusiastic and motivated Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join our South Ayrshire Community Mental Health Team, and play a key role in supporting an established and well-resourced team.  The role is full-time however flexible working is available and supported locally.

The post includes community and inpatient responsibilities. The successful candidate will be one of 5 Consultants (4 WTE and one 0.6 WTE) providing input to the multidisciplinary South Ayrshire Community Mental Health Team (SACMHT) based at Ailsa Hospital in Ayr.

The successful applicant will join a friendly, well supported team with close ties with other specialities such as addictions, older adults, CAMHS and forensic services.  The CMHT is within 40 minutes of Glasgow city centre with good transport links and excellent local facilities, including and outdoor activities.
